If you or your customers have been using Forge Viewer with very large models, you may have encountered performance and scalability issues; e.g., The Viewer may be taking too long to load, or worse, your browser crashes after a long waiting period.
The new, performance enhanced version of SVF, called SVF2 may eliminate many of these types of problems. If you didn't catch a glimpse of it at last year’s Forge DevCon Keynote, here is a link to the recording. The SVF2 format and accompanying updated Forge Viewer will increase performance in situations where your model contains like-shaped components. As you see in the Keynote video, rebar performance is greatly enhanced. Scenarios where we believe this can help include AEC and manufacturing models where there are many liked-shaped components.
We are excited to share that SVF2 is ready for testing by our partners: the first step as a private beta. We would like to invite partners and customers in the who are willing to test and give us feedback into this beta. If you meet the prerequisites and are able to commit to testing and providing our team with regular feedback, please get in touch!
- You are familiar with the Forge Viewer and Model Derivative APIs
- You have large models whose performance you want to improve (and are willing to test them)
If you meet those prerequisites and are interested in this opportunity, please email the team at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line "Interested in SVF2 beta testing" and the following information:
- Your name
- Your e-mail address
- Company name
- Company URL
- Your industry area (e.g. Manufacturing, Construction)
- Country (or time zone - in case we need to set up a call with you)
- Brief description of your Forge Viewer application. Include any current performance issues you hope to see resolved
Please note that due to this being an ongoing development effort, we will not be able to accept a large number of testers. Please do not be disappointed if you are not accepted. We will hold a larger beta test in the future.
After we receive your request, we will review your submission and contact you with further instructions.
